There are currently no limits on the number of people that can be in a voice room.
Presence is designed to work as a lightweight voice layer that keeps you connected w/ your team throughout the day. One way many high-speed teams use Presence is to stay inside a voice room with teammates for long jam sessions.
You can use custom global shortcuts to toggle your mic on and off as well as control your sound as you focus on doing your work. Visual indicators in your OS tray icon provide feedback so you can keep the app window hidden 👀
We learned early on that a live walkie-talkie experience is great with teammates except for the interruptive part. Asynchronous and transcribed voice messages works so we added that, but it was still slower w/ more barrier to record.
Live voice notes solve these issues by simply live-transcribing what the sender is saying auto-muted for the receiver. The receiver can then click to unmute, listen live or listen later as a voice note.
There's nothing like this out there (patent pending) and it's a really great way to talk freely with your team without ever feeling like you're interrupting them😃 (Watch 20s demo)
We've put a lot of attention into making sure Presence's CPU usage is low. We think it's okay right now, especially compared to some other other voice/video chat apps out there, but please let us know otherwise.
Presence is designed to be a voice-first tool for remote teamwork. Though video can be useful sometimes, we find we find it isn't needed for 95% of internal conversations with teammates. We may add video later, but the experience will be more focused on recording or sharing your screen (aka what you're working on) 😀
Presence has AI enabled background noise cancellation built in. Background cafe noises, traffic sounds, baby crying, loud music..etc. will be removed and minimized w/ your crystal clear focus on your voice. Additionally, Presence supports echo cancellation so you can have multiple team members in an office talk on separate computers w/ remote teammates with minimal echo. We encourage keeping at least one in-office computer connected to a voice room so that remote teammates can hop in and don't feel left out 🤙
Presence uses industry standard and compliant WebRTC protocols as well as secure encryption and decryption for all voice, text and other data exchange on our AWS and GCP servers. As long as your account is secure, your data will be secure.
If you connect Slack to your Presence team, you can send transcribed voice notes to any of your Slack teammates—even if they are not signed up for Presence. They will get a DM with the audio and text transcription. Also, any notification to talk in a room will be sent to the recipient as a Slack DM w/ a link to enter the room. You can also type /voicetext to send a transcribed voice note—or type /presence to share a voice room link directly from Slack.
